Garden design

Growing and play

A bare and underused backyard was transformed to meet the family’s needs: growing food, spending time together, and making room for play and exploration in a small space. The final images show the site before redesign and landscaping.

Growing and play: raised black planting beds, a pergola frame and a woodchip path beside a deck with seating.

Small backyard with a wooden deck, seating and lush vegetable beds in black-painted raised planters, screened by fencing and climbing plants.

Chickens rest in a planted backyard with pink-flowering shrubs and a small wooden bench – part of Odling och lek.

The backyard before redesign, seen from the house: a green shed, toys and a trellis with climbers in the small space.

Before redesign: a bare small backyard with sparse lawn, a timber fence and a raised wooden deck.

The backyard before redesign: a small lawn, timber deck and tall wooden fence, with a few newly dug planting areas.
